Only a few more days to finish out the racing year. I have to admit that this has been a lean year and we are anxiously awaiting a new and prosperous year. 2014 is the Chinese Year of the Horse and we are hoping it will be a year for our horses.
Every one is healthy so that’s a plus, but it may be time to make some changes. I anticipate we will be removing a few of our poor performers and hopefully find some new achievers. It is a difficult game and change is the best solution that I see.
I am sure that there are many horseman who have faced the same decisions and at times it is best to start fresh. Of course there are some horses that will continue to stay with us and we will miss any we decide to eliminate, but when it comes down to it, it is a business. We have a few favorites and some great horses with a lot of potentials. There are a few however who need to move on to other venues.
The next few weeks will be trying for me because I have become attached to many of these horses and would love to keep them all forever. This is of course impossible. Hopefully Fate will be on our side when we make these decisions, Fortunately, I have a great trainer who will make the final decision. Wish us luck!
